Mazda Car Technology Earns Mazda6 Popular Mechanic’s ‘Car of the Year’ Award

Mazda6 Car of the Year

The 2014 Mazda6 was named Popular Mechanics’ “ Car of the Year ” and for very good reason.

The Mazda6 ties a neat bow on a well put together package. Its innovative technology makes it possible for the highest safety ratings, the latest in available infotainment features, its sleek styling with bold curves, the practical cabin and its fun-to-drive performance with fuel efficiency reaching up to 40 mpg on the highway to be rolled into one dynamic vehicle.

With retail pricing starting just under $22,000 including the destination fee, how could the 2014 Mazda6 be named anything but “Car of the Year”?

Admittedly, we might be just a teensy bit biased; so don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what Jim Meigs, Popular Mechanics’ editor-in-chief had to say:

“At Popular Mechanics, we love it when bold engineering and great design come together. The Mazda6 really impressed us with how well it delivers so many things modern car owners want: great mileage, fun road-handling, upscale features and looks—and remarkable value.”

Do you believe us now? Stop by Bakersfield Mazda today to see for yourself all the “ Car of the Year ” has to offer.

Lauren of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, is happily cruising in her new 2013 Mazda3. With her purchase a few weeks ago, she became the proud owner of both her first new car and Mazda’s 10 millionth vehicle sold in the U.S. It was a momentous day neither she nor we will forget.

Mazda’s 2014 Mazda6 received an “Advanced” safety score, the highest rating in new tests administered by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Mazda’s new i-ActivSense driver-assistance technology secured Mazda’s top 20 finish among a test class of 74 vehicles.

Of course, we’re excited about the new Mazdas models we have to offer you, but we always enjoy looking back at some of our older, trusty models as well. Two celebrities are holding tight to their Mazdas with history. Alfred Morris, starting running back for the Washington Redskins still drives his 1991 Mazda 626, although it recently underwent a reconstructive surgery. Down-to-earth Game of Thrones writer, George R. R. Martin, prefers his Mazda RX-7.

As we reflect during this Thanksgiving month, we can’t help but be grateful for a successful year. With two months left, we can’t wait to see what other accomplishments we’ll be able to add to the list before 2014.

Mazda3 Breaks Mazda Records

Since the 1970’s, Mazda has been selling lots of cars in North America. Just recently, on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, Mazda reached a great milestone of selling their 10 millionth vehicle in the United States.

Mazda3

Mazda was nothing but ecstatic and had to have the 10 millionth Mazda car sold added to their Mazda heritage collection. The 10th million vehicle sold was a 2013 Mazda3. The customer who purchased the small car was then upgraded to a 2014 Mazda3 for free, so that the 2013 Mazda could be added to the collection.

In 2004 the first ever Mazda3 was launched and has been a success ever since. As a whole Mazda Motor Corp. has set aspiring goals for the small and safe vehicle which were just released. This year, Mazda plans to sell 500,000 Mazda3 vehicles alone. Mazda is confident their sales goals are attainable seeing that the Mazda3 contributed to 30% of sold Mazda vehicles last year.

The newly designed 2014 Mazda3 has become a top segment leader. With greater fuel economy, innovative technology, top safety features, comfort and style, there is not much to complain about the all new Mazda3. Stop by your local Bakersfield Mazda dealership in Bakersfield, CA today and take the Mazda3 car for a test drive!

Mazda6 Wins Top Advanced Safety Technology Award by IIHS

What is your biggest concern when driving? Is safety one of them? Does technology seem to improve your driving skills or distract you more? Mazda engineers have worked hard to improve the safety of their drivers and the hard work is paying off. This year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named the 2014 Mazda6 with an advanced safety technology rating.

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) President and CEO Jim O’Sullivan states, “The ‘Advanced’ rating from IIHS illustrates Mazda’s continued commitment to developing vehicles that offer not only the highest levels of occupant crash protection, but vehicles that are also fun to drive.”

Mazda has always been on the forefront of technology and this year it is no different. The innovative 2014 Mazda6 technology is a market first and is named, i-ACTIVSENSE.  Tons of radar sensors, cameras and waves are utilized to guide the driver along the road while keeping passengers safe. A few of the features include:

  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Lane Departure Warning System
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert

How much does the award winning Mazda6 cost? Even though it has the latest technology, many are surprised at the affordable starting price of $20,990. Not only will safety be covered in this commuter and family friendly vehicle, but the Mazda6  is set at a very competitive market price.

New 2014 Mazda CX-5: What a Difference a Year Makes

Now, we all know last year’s Mazda CX-5 was a really good model; but the new 2014 Mazda CX-5 is exceptional.

This crossover SUV fuses more of everything you want from your SUV into a compact physique. In its second year, the Mazda CX-5 has more horsepower, more torque, less weight and more features available in its technology package.

In fact, here at Bakersfield Mazda, we’re proud to announce the new 2014 CX-5 with its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and SKYACTIV-G technology is already Mazda’s second best-selling vehicle across America.

What exactly makes this year’s model so great? And what do all those numbers mean?

While the original CX-5 was equipped with a 2.0-liter engine, Mazda’s 2014 2.5-liter model allows for a more powerful engine with 29 additional horsepower and a 23 percent increase in torque. This provides drivers with more agility and control as they navigate the road without compromising safety. For the first time, Mazda’s Smart City Brake Support is now offered in the technology package.

These improvements are thanks to Mazda’s SKYACTIV-G technology, a technology designed to supply Mazda vehicles with the necessary power in a smaller, lighter engine maintaining fuel efficiency. Mazda’s 2014 CX-5 still travels at 25 miles per gallon in the city, 32 on the highway making it a competitor even among hybrid SUV models.

Mazda’s dedication to develop vehicles “carefully engineered to eliminate compromise” brings you the Mazda 2014 CX-5, known to experts, like Mike Hanley of Cars.com, as “one of the most fun-to-drive models in the class.”

But don’t take his word for it; come check out the 2014 CX-5 for yourself. Our Bakersfield Mazda staff will be happy to provide additional details about the CX-5’s offerings.

Mazda6 Excites Consumers with New Marketing Tactic at Restaurants

Over the decades, Mazda has continued to make a name for itself in the US market. Starting with just a small segment of the market, Mazda has been able to build a high brand loyalty while competing with the largest auto companies in the U.S. Many auto companies struggle largely to make the movement into the U.S. markets. Mazda has been successful due to the highly competitive vehicles Mazda engineers have produced, including the 2014 Mazda CX-5 SUV and 2014 Mazda6 sedan.

To keep their momentum and growth throughout the market, Mazda has launched an interesting new marketing plan at local restaurants around the country. Mazda hopes to engage drivers through their Take6 Ride & Drive program promoting the 2014 Mazda6. The program is planned to launch in Seattle and then grow to 14 other markets. While consumers are waiting for a table, they will be able to take a six minute test drive of the 2014 Mazda6. Customers who decide to take the test drive will receive a gift card and a Mazda6-branded spice grinder. This experimental marketing tactic is targeted to end in November. Mazda’s director of PR and brand experience explains the guerrilla marketing tactic stating, “They’ll have gone out for dinner, and our goal is to catch these people where they are rather than making them go where the car is…. We’re trying to drive interest, get people behind the wheel of the Mazda6, understand what makes it unique and different—and do it in a way that’s comfortable.”

The 2014 Mazda6 is noted for many innovative features at a competitive and affordable price point. The highly acclaimed updated styling, SkyActiv technology, fuel efficiency, new materials are just a few reasons people are raving about the Mazda6 compact sedan. Receiving lots of positive reviews, the Bakersfield Mazda dealership in Bakersfield, CA has made sure to stock up on a large supply of the 2014 Mazda6. Find a large selection of colors and trim levels at this Mazda dealership for exactly what you want and need. With these new updates we know the Mazda sedan will be at the top of many car consumers lists this year.

Mazda6 Has SKYACTIV Technology

2014 MAZDA6

Mazda6 Has SKYACTIV Technology

The Mazda6 is a mid-size sedan that has a lot to offer. For one, it has something called SKYACTIV technology. To me, that makes it sound like this car can fly… maybe not literally, but the Mazda6 can zip down the road on just a sip of gas.

SKYACTIV technology uses lightweight materials and high-tech power to make the car drive faster while using less gas. The 2014 Mazda6 SKYACTIV gets 38 mpg on the highway, all without using a battery, having to charge, and only using regular gasoline. This sounds pretty great to me. And, best of all, you don’t have to pay hybrid or electric car prices to get this efficiency.

While you may think all this efficiency might make the Mazda6 boring to drive, it is actually quite spirited with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 184 horsepower. With sporty looks outside and in, the mid-sized sedan has an elegant design with lots of room for passengers and cargo.

Bakersfield Mazda has a large inventory of the 2014 Mazda6 with SKYACTIV technology. Come see the style and efficiency for yourself.

New 2014 Mazda6 to get “i-ACTIVESENSE” Safety Technology

The all-new 2014 Mazda6 has begun production, and in that production Mazda has decided to raise some standards and technology of the redesigned sedan. The new Mazda6 will be getting a new suite of safety features that Mazda calls “i-ACTIVESENSE”. The entire set of new technologies in the Mazda6 is geared towards preventing accidents, and when they can’t be prevented, making sure passengers are safe.

These safety features have been separated into three different categories: The Driving Support Category, The Hazard Recognition Support Category, and the Collision Avoidance/ Damage Reduction Support.

The Driving Support Category contains features such as the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) and an in-dash GPS system. The Hazard Recognition Support features Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Rear Vehicle Monitoring (RVM), High-Beam Control System (HBC), and Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS). All of these features are geared towards helping the driver avoid accidents.

The features of the Collision Avoidance/ Damage Reduction Support group are Smart Brake Support (SBS), Smart City Brake Support (SCBS), and an Acceleration Control for Automatic Transmission. These features are geared towards helping the driver when an accident becomes unavoidable suck as automatically applying the brakes. The Acceleration Control for Automatic Transmission will curb power output while alerting the driver if the gas pedal is pressed excessively when there is an obstacle close to the front of the vehicle.

The entire set of features makes up the “i-ACTIVESENSE” package that Mazda wants to install on all future vehicles. Mazda has taken a very bold stance on safety stating “To drive safely it is essential to recognize potential hazards, exercise good judgment and operate the vehicle in an appropriate fashion. Mazda aims to support these essential functions so drivers can drive safely and with peace of mind, despite changing driving conditions.
But drivers are human beings, and human beings are fallible. So Mazda offers a range of technologies which help to prevent or reduce the damage resulting from an accident.”

You can count on seeing these features not only in the 2014 Mazda6 but many upcoming Mazda vehicles as well.
