Mazda6’s Production Reaches Three Million Units Worldwide

In a testament to the performance sedan’s steadfast popularity, the Mazda6’s production reached a new milestone in November: three million units sold worldwide. This impressive sales achievement was reached just 12 years and nine months after the first-generation Mazda6 began production in February 2002. The Mazda6 is the second fastest model to reach three million units produced, coming in just behind the Mazda3.

The current Mazda6 is in its third generation, after a full redesign in 2012. The Mazda6 was the second model to join Mazda’s newest generation, adopting the full range of SkyActiv Technology and KODO (Soul of Motion) design theme. The current-generation Mazda6 has received over 40 awards worldwide, including being named 2014 RJC Car of the Year in Japan and nomination as a finalist for the 2013 World Car Design of the Year.

We will see an updated Mazda6 makes its way to Bakersfield Mazda and dealerships nationwide beginning January 2015. According to a recent Mazda news release, the updated Mazda6 will feature a more “refined design expression, enhanced dynamic performance for a more comfortable, higher-quality ride, the Mazda Connect new-generation car connectivity system and i-ACTIVSENSE advanced safety technologies.”

2016 Mazda 6 Coupe Planned to Add a Sporty Touch to the Mazda Lineup

In case you haven’t heard, Mazda recently released some surprising details about a Mazda 6 coupe, something never seen before. With a sporty new design and upgraded performance, the 2016 Mazda 6 coupe could become one of the best sports cars on the road.

2016 Mazda 6 Coupe planned

The 2016 Mazda6 Coupe will be an even sportier looking, two-door version of this 2015 model.

So, what’s so impressive? Well, a coupe version of the classic mid-size sedan would mean building on an entirely new platform. Many automakers have abandoned this concept, due to its complexity; however, the engineers at Mazda have it down.

Car and Driver had a giddy response to news of the 2016 Mazda 6 Coupe planned. “Dropping a 6 coupe cherry on top of Mazda’s current product sundae suggests that the company is confident and willing to plant a flag in a field that most other manufacturers have all but abandoned. The rest of the industry may have bailed on the mid-size, two-door coupe…”

Even if the 2016 coupe seems a long ways away, we still have the popular 2015 Mazda 6 here at Bakersfield Mazda. With 28/36 mpg, a 2.5-liter I4 engine, and state-of-the art safety, no matter which Mazda 6 interests you, you’re bound to end up in a quality car.

Mazda6 Has Best September in 9 Years; CX-5 Has Best September Ever

The Mazda brand is on the rise, and the CX-5 and Mazda6 both enjoyed record months in September. Thanks to the success of these two models, Mazda sales in North America climbed 6.7% over sales from September 2013; year-to-date sales are up 9.3% with 240,953 models sold through September.

“The past two years have seen a September sales month without the Labor Day holiday, which can present a challenge for our dealers, yet we still reported a year-over-year increase,” said Ron Stettner, vice president of sales, MNAO. “Sales growth continues to be the product of strong dealer support and SKYACTIV Technology, specifically the quality, fuel efficiency, technology and value found in Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5.”

Mazda6 Has Best September in 9 YearsWhen we say the “Mazda6 Has Best September in 9 Years” we mean it, and sales of the CX-5 were the best that they have ever been in September. The Mazda6 delivered 4,263 vehicles for a 34.6% year-over-year increase, and the CX-5 moved 8,097 vehicles for a 28.9% year-over-year increase.

As has been the trend, a huge percentage of Mazda’s overall sales belonged to vehicles powered by SKYACTIV® Technology. September was no different, with more than 84% of all Mazdas sold using the brand’s efficient technology.

Additionally, Mazda Certified Pre-Owned vehicles were up 17% with 3,513 vehicles moved in the month of September.
