2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata Rolls into Dealerships

2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata

The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata was a hit with consumers of all ages and backgrounds. Now, with the 2017 model rolling into showrooms, the legendary, award-winning roadster is ready to make waves once more. There’s no reason to make changes to perfection which is why the 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata arrives mostly unchanged for the model year.

The 2016 model took home both the World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year awards, the only vehicle to ever do so. The base MSRP holds steady at just under $25,000, a bargain for this incredible roadster.

There isn’t much to say when it comes to changes. Drivers can choose from the Sport, Grand Touring, and Club trims. Mazda aimed to offer three different vehicles to appeal to different types of drivers.

The MX-5 Miata Sport shows off its original formula that first debuted in 1990. The Club trim boasts red stitching and a performance-driven exterior design, suspension, and brakes. The Grand Touring trim is the definition of luxury with three-stage heated seats, automatic climate control, and more.

The only major change for the 2017 model year comes in the form of Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Both safety technologies come standard on the Club trim.

We here at Bakersfield Mazda are ecstatic that the new MX-5 Miata roadster will be here soon!

  • Gift card. Do a little research and find out what stores are close to where they’ll be headed this fall and get them a gift card. If they’ll be taking a car, a gas card is a great option that is guaranteed to be used.

  • Games. While board games may seem old-school, they are a simple way to create a fun night and possibly make a few new friends.
  • Digital camera. Of course, many people use their smartphones to take pictures, having a quality digital camera may encourage your student to take a few more quality pictures to send home.
  • Alarm clock. Waking up for those 8 AM classes can be quite a challenge, so getting them a reliable alarm clock (instead of just using their phone) may help. Take a look at this rolling alarm clock that only lets you hit the snooze once before it rolls out of reach.
  • Cash. If all else fails, give your graduate some cash. They can always use to buy a book or two for their upcoming classes.

How will you be celebrating the high school graduate in your life?

Mazda Displays Hazumi Concept at Geneva Show

At the recent Geneva Motor Show, Mazda put its Hazumi concept on full display. Most auto experts agree that this concept will lead to the next generation of the Mazda2, which is a very good thing. Mazda says it is “foreshadowing Mazda’s next-generation subcompact car.”

How much of an impact will the Hazumi Concept have on the 2015 Mazda2? Will it looks way different than the 2014 one pictured above?                                               – Photo via The News Wheel

Mazda used its Kodo design language to its full extent on this concept and says it wanted the Hazumi to look like a “small but vigorous animal.” It sports an aggressive front fascia with a wide stance, which makes it look like its ready for anything.

This compact car boasts the best Mazda has to offer with a Skyactiv Technology, Mazda Proactive Safety, and the newest Mazda Connect system.

Here at Bakersfield Mazda, we can’t wait to see the next Mazda2. When it gets these amazing good looks, it will be unstoppable.

What do you think about the design on the Hazumi? Would you love to see the next Mazda2 take on this aggressive design?

Mazda’s Triple Threat Scores Triple the Best Value Awards

There’s a good reason why the Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-5 have been dubbed Mazda’s “triple threat.” These three models are responsible for over 80 percent of last year’s sales, and they recently received Best Value Awards from Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.

In Kiplinger’s Annual Car Buyer’s Guide, the company ranks vehicles according to their performance, safety, and overall value including residual pricing and fuel economy.

As redesigned models, the 2014 Mazda3 i Sport and Mazda6 i Sport won Best New Car Under $20,000 and Best New Car $20,000 – $25,000, respectively.

The 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring took home the award for Best in Class – Small Crossover. Best in Class vehicles have been in production for at least a year or are built with a powertrain very similar to the one used in previous model years.

“Mazda had a really strong showing this year,” said Jessica Anderson, associate editor at Kiplinger’s.

“Both the Mazda3 and Mazda6 redesigns are fantastic examples of what a carmaker can (and should) do with a mainstream model – they’re engagingly designed, far more upscale than you’d think from their price tags and a blast to drive. And the CX-5 is without a doubt the most fun in the crossover segment. It packs all the safety and space you look for in an SUV but has the soul of a sports car. Zoom-Zoom, indeed.”

Three Mazda 2014 Models Receive Top Safety Ratings

As you drive in your 2014 Mazda3, Mazda6, or CX-5 from Bakersfield Mazda, rest assured that your vehicle is tested and proven to keep you safe wherever you go. These three vehicles were awarded with “Top Safety Pick+” distinctions by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Mazda 2014 Models

In a year with new, more stringent criteria, three of Mazda 2014 Models were among only 22 to earn the title of “Top Safety Pick+”, giving Mazda’s brand the second-highest number of safety honors in the industry.

The automaker attributes much of this success to its exclusive SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY, which strives to optimize fuel-efficient performance of the gasoline engine.

“A redesign is not simply a matter of changing a vehicle’s sheet metal draping but involves dramatically altering its insides, outsides and everything in between to make that vehicle not only look great but be more efficient, more powerful and, most importantly, safer,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO for Mazda North American Operations.

“With our new fleet of SKYACTIV vehicles, the 2014 Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5 were created to be the best in their segments from fuel economy and safety to dynamics and performance, and having earned Top Safety Pick+ distinctions is further proof to their success.”

Mazda plans to implement SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY in each of its new models.

So sit back and relax, knowing you can enjoy a nice, safe ride in Mazda 2014 models.

Mazda’s Rotary Engine May Get a New Mission in the Mazda2

2013 Mazda2Mazda has a new prototype in the works as the company experiments with hybrid technology and California’s rigid zero-emission requirements.

Though Mazda’s new CEO, Masamichi Kogai, originally stated future production of Mazda’s rotary engine would remain halted, that same rotary engine is now being used to transform the Mazda2 hatchback into an extended-range hybrid.

For now, Mazda is calling it the Rotary Engine Range Extender, or RE Range Extender for short.

There are still no plans at the moment to enter this vehicle into production, but as engineers continue to “tinker” with the technology, its benefits may prove worthy of pulling the rotary engine out of retirement.

The RE Range Extender is powered with an electric motor. A 0.33-liter rotary engine uses fuel to recharge a lithium-ion battery. With the modified engine, the RE Range Enxtender could see a range of 248 miles, twice that of the current all-electric Mazda2.

“We are the first and only manufacturer to commercialize the rotary engine,” Kogai told Automotive News in regard to the company’s decision to hang on to the rotary engine even without current plans to continue its use. “In that respect we have some responsibility.”

Based on the present possibilities resulting from Mazda engineers’ tinkering, the rotary engine could become a more valuable option in the near future. We at Bakersfield Mazda will wait with you to see what the automaker decides to do.

Mazda6 Excites Consumers with New Marketing Tactic at Restaurants

Over the decades, Mazda has continued to make a name for itself in the US market. Starting with just a small segment of the market, Mazda has been able to build a high brand loyalty while competing with the largest auto companies in the U.S. Many auto companies struggle largely to make the movement into the U.S. markets. Mazda has been successful due to the highly competitive vehicles Mazda engineers have produced, including the 2014 Mazda CX-5 SUV and 2014 Mazda6 sedan.

2014 Mazda6

2014 Mazda6

To keep their momentum and growth throughout the market, Mazda has launched an interesting new marketing plan at local restaurants around the country. Mazda hopes to engage drivers through their Take6 Ride & Drive program promoting the 2014 Mazda6. The program is planned to launch in Seattle and then grow to 14 other markets. While consumers are waiting for a table, they will be able to take a six minute test drive of the 2014 Mazda6. Customers who decide to take the test drive will receive a gift card and a Mazda6-branded spice grinder. This experimental marketing tactic is targeted to end in November. Mazda’s director of PR and brand experience explains the guerrilla marketing tactic stating, “They’ll have gone out for dinner, and our goal is to catch these people where they are rather than making them go where the car is…. We’re trying to drive interest, get people behind the wheel of the Mazda6, understand what makes it unique and different—and do it in a way that’s comfortable.”

The 2014 Mazda6 is noted for many innovative features at a competitive and affordable price point. The highly acclaimed updated styling, SkyActiv technology, fuel efficiency, new materials are just a few reasons people are raving about the Mazda6 compact sedan. Receiving lots of positive reviews, the Bakersfield Mazda dealership in Bakersfield, CA has made sure to stock up on a large supply of the 2014 Mazda6. Find a large selection of colors and trim levels at this Mazda dealership for exactly what you want and need. With these new updates we know the Mazda sedan will be at the top of many car consumers lists this year.
